Here’s how to get started quickly.

1. Set the right length

Stand on the rope with one foot and pull the handles upward. They should reach roughly your chest height. Adjust until it feels natural.

2. Keep elbows close

Relax your shoulders and keep your elbows near your ribs. Most of the movement comes from your wrists, not your arms.

3. Bounce low

Aim for small, quick jumps. Just enough for the rope to pass under your feet.

4. Try 20 seconds on / 20 seconds off

Alternate effort and rest to build rhythm.

5. Build gradually to three continuous minutes

Consistency is more important than intensity. Small improvements add up fast.

With just a few sessions, jump rope becomes a fun, effective conditioning tool you can use anywhere.
